Top Notch Art Classes

About You

You will gain skill and experience in creating beautiful artwork covering a broad range of subject matter. From portraiture to landscapes and still-life compositions to more contemporary abstract studies.

The focus is very much on giving individual tuition and guidance. It’s fun as well, from day one you are made to feel incredibly welcome and the camaraderie makes you feel very much part of a really friendly bunch of budding artists.

One of the main factors for our 80%+ returners rate beyond the expert tuition is the carefully chosen curriculum giving you the opportunity to excel in a range of mediums including sketching, oil pastels, watercolours and acrylics.  During each course we look to introduce new mediums such as charcoals and printmaking.

It has been wonderful to see students develop their skills and confidence in their artistic ability.

We hope to see you on a course soon either online or in the studio.

Online Classes

We use the Zoom platform to effectively live-stream the art classes from the venue. This enables students to enjoy the class from the comfort of their own home. There are two cameras set up with one focusing on the demonstration at the start of the class and the other facing the tutor meaning you can benefit from individual tuition and feedback throughout the 3 hours lesson.

Please note, online classes are only available during times of lockdown when we cannot access the venue.

Studio Classes

When you walk in to a Seasons Art Class all of the paints, paper and brushes are all laid out in readiness so you won’t need to bring anything with you, it is all included in the course.

The lesson starts with a comprehensive and detailed demonstration by the Tutor, giving you the tools to help create your weekly masterpiece. To see the brushwork up close there is an overhead webcam focused on the painting in progress which is beamed up to a very large TV for easy viewing.

Students then have the choice to follow the lesson with step-by-step instructions or to choose from additional pictures to work from. The ethos is very much guidelines not rules.

Unusually, for an art class it is 3 hours long giving time to work towards finishing paintings in the same session. During this time, the tutor is constantly on hand to offer individual tuition.

On the penultimate week, there is the opportunity to frame some of your artwork. On the final week we hold an art exhibition for all students. There is always an uplifting atmosphere to the event and is a chance to show off your artwork to friends and family.

Beyond the art, the venue is a calm and glorious space in which to paint in and the atmosphere created is truly friendly and relaxed. If that wasn’t enough there is an endless supply of tea, coffee and biscuits laid on.

The 14 week courses run three times per year starting at the beginning of January, May and September.
There are three weekly classes:
Thu: 10.00 – 13.00
Fri: 10.00 – 13.00 / 14.00 – 17.00

Your Tutors

Jan & Marek

Marek looks after the Thursday morning gang and Jan the Friday folk. Jan & Marek are both successful artists for more years than they would both care to remember which in turn gives them a wealth of knowledge and expert teaching ability.
It's a great advantage having two tutors as it gives great back up if one needs to cover for the other plus sharing creative ideas.

Once the demo is over the tutors can really give individual attention and help develop our students drawing and painting skills.
With such a supportive environment our aim is to help grow students in confidence and artistic ability.

Why people love our classes

Attending a Chorleywood Seasons Art class is something not to be missed. For me, it epitomises the old adage “You’re never too old to learn”. Receiving my first term as a birthday present to mark a “special” birthday, I was, and still am, completely hooked. Excellent tutors carefully guide and
encourage, generously sharing their wealth of knowledge in a relaxed and informal manner. With a diverse range of topics and mediums covered each term, there’s always something new to learn and enjoy. With the opportunity to make new friends, and a plentiful supply of tea and biscuits on tap,
what’s not to like? A great way to treat yourself to some well-earned “me” time! They definitely won’t be getting rid of me any time soon ….
